The work is hard, specific, and it matters
You work shifts in a house where one to four young people live. Some shifts are quiet. Some are not.
See current openingsCalm under pressure
People who stay steady when someone is shouting at them, and do not take it personally.
Good at writing it down
Properly, the same day, without being chased. The log is how a young person's story survives a staff change.
Warm and firm at once
People who can hold a boundary and still be kind about it, and who ask for help before a situation gets away from them.

Applying takes about ten minutes and you do not need a cover letter. Questions? Email admin@matrixfostercareservices.ca.
How we hire
We read every application
A person, not only a computer. If we are not taking it forward, we tell you rather than leaving you to work it out.
A phone call, twenty minutes
So you can ask us things too. Ask the hard questions, we would rather you did.
An interview at the office
With the Program Supervisor you would actually be working under.
A conditional offer, then checks
We will be straight with you about how long they take.
Nobody works unsupervised with a young person until every check has cleared
A Broad Record Check, three references we take up ourselves, medical clearance signed by a physician, and a current Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C certificate. That is one certificate, and we check its authenticity.
Within your first 30 days you also complete restraint training and policy education, and we pay for your time to do it.
MATRIX uses an applicant tracking system to sort applications. A person makes every decision about whether an application goes forward. If we interview you, we will tell you the outcome within 45 days. We will accommodate you at any stage, just tell us what you need.
Thinking about fostering instead?
Fostering is not a job with us. Foster parents care for a young person in their own home and receive a daily care rate.
Ask us before you apply
If you want to know what a shift is actually like before you spend ten minutes applying, email us and ask. We would rather have that conversation early.
What it is like to work here
Three staff, in their own words, about the work and the support. Unedited except for length, and that stated plainly.
Each carries a first name, a role and how long they have been with MATRIX. Anonymous praise reads as invented, because usually it is.
If a member of staff says something critical and agrees to it being published, it goes up. That is what makes the rest believable.
